LAS VEGAS – May 21, 2018 -- Activision has extended its partnership with Tinderbox, the digital division of Beanstalk, beyond Call of Duty® by appointing the agency to represent its videogame franchises Crash Bandicoot™ and Spyro™ for licensing in Europe.
Tinderbox will now actively pursue licensing opportunities in Europe for the brand across multiple categories including collectibles, apparel, fashion accessories, gift and novelty, consumer electronics and home décor and many more. Following the incredible success of the Crash Bandicoot™ N. Sane Trilogy, the agency will leverage the franchise’s retro-cool appeal with existing fans whilst also creating new touchpoints for its new audience. The return of Spyro this year brings added opportunities to engage fans.
“We are thrilled to extend our partnership with Tinderbox in Europe to include Crash Bandicoot and Spyro,” says Philippe Bost, vice president, International Consumer Products, Activision Blizzard Consumer Products Group. “Tinderbox truly understands video game properties and in the case of Crash Bandicoot, its place in entertainment and pop culture. This, combined with their expertise in building major brand extension programs, provides us with an opportunity to reach our fans outside of the core game through a variety of highly relevant, global product extensions.”
Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy was the number one selling remastered collection in PlayStation 4 history in 2017 and is heading to new platforms. Activision recently announced that beginning on July 10, players will be able to experience all that the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy has to offer on the Nintendo Switch™, Xbox One, and PC via Steam®, in addition to PlayStation®4.
“Crash Bandicoot is more than just a fond memory for many gamers. For some it was their first gaming experience. It is a true icon in videogame history,” says Dan Amos, head, Tinderbox. “Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy gives a new generation the opportunity to experience this iconic franchise and further extends its relevance in pop-culture, globally. Tinderbox is proud to further develop our partnership with the team at Activision in developing consumer product extensions for Crash Bandicoot and also the fan-favourite Spyro throughout Europe. We are excited to begin work and look forward to great program extensions to come.”
In celebration of Spyro’s 20th anniversary, the Spyro™ Reignited Trilogy features the fun and nostalgic gameplay that fans remember with more than 100 levels, enhanced reward sequences and Spyro’s gang of zany dragons and other goofballs. The fully remastered game collection of the three original Spyro games will be available beginning September 21 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One from Activision.
Dan Amos, head of Tinderbox, will be at Licensing Expo this week and is available for interview on the signing of ESL as Tinderbox’s newest client as well as the expanded relationship with Activision that includes Crash Bandicoot. We are able to accommodate questions via email or a quick in-person interview at the Beanstalk booth G156.
